A study in how the Twin works:

There is often confusion about how a machine with 2 Motor/Pump groups work. Below is a case study to help.

A large factory had a need to undertake Pressure Cleaning in 2 different works areas, with both guns sometimes operating at the same time.

They requested a Single Cabinet machine, with 2 Motor/Pump sets. They wanted a single outlet on the machine, to be plumbed into pipework that led to both of the Gun/Hoses. They had previously used another brand that included an electronic board, and were unhappy with the (regular) large repair costs to the PCB Board.

The BAR Twin was been designed to satisfy this requirement, and operates as follows:

1) When one gun is opened, one pump starts. When the second gun is opened, while first is still running, the second pump starts.

2) When both pumps are running, one pump turns off if one of the two guns is closed. Both pumps will turn off if both guns are closed..

Technically:

  1. Each pump-motor set of the TWIN cleaner has its own bypass valve
  2. One of the two valves is calibrated at a slightly lower pressure than the other
  3. The starting of the pumps is NOT random, the same pump always starts.
  4. Importantly, when both guns are closed, there is the correct water hammer (therefore a damper should not be used).
  5. The Twin is a mechanical system and does not have the same precision as electronics but it is the simpler and more effective method.
  6. The Twin decides which pump to start first, by using the following: For eg,  in the case of a TWIN 200BAR, one bypass valve is set at 200 bar while the other at 190-195 bar.

When a gun is closed, the slightly lower calibrated bypass valve intervenes and switches to bypass and stops the pump.

The bypass goes into the water tank which is a safe system in case a pump does not stop. Over time, the calibration of the Unloaders should be swapped, to even out the usage of each Pump
